One of the most common issues that intermediate learners face in writing is the lack of cohesion and coherence in their texts.Abstract
Teaching writing skills is one of the most challenging aspects of language instruction, particularly for intermediate learners. At this stage, students have mastered the basics of grammar and vocabulary but often struggle with more complex aspects of writing, such as structure, coherence, and style. While they are no longer beginners, intermediate learners are often caught in a "learning plateau," where progress seems slow, and specific barriers prevent them from becoming proficient writers. Understanding the main problem they face is crucial for teachers to develop effective strategies that help students overcome these hurdles. Teaching writing to intermediate learners can be a challenging task due to various issues that impede their progress. Although these students have a basic grasp of grammar and vocabulary, they often struggle with more complex writing skills, such as organization, coherence, and sophisticated expression. Understanding these common problems is key to helping them improve their writing abilities.
