Abstract

Lifelong learning is a continuous and dynamic process that enables individuals to acquire, update, and improve their knowledge, skills, and competencies throughout their lives. In the modern era, characterized by rapid technological advancements, globalization, and evolving labor market demands, lifelong learning has become a fundamental component of personal, social, and professional development. This article examines the core principles of lifelong learning, including continuity, accessibility, flexibility, learner-centeredness, and inclusiveness. It also explores the historical development of the concept, tracing its origins from traditional educational practices to contemporary educational policies and international initiatives. Special attention is given to the role of international organizations in promoting lifelong learning as a strategy for sustainable development and social progress. The study highlights the significance of lifelong learning in fostering adaptability, innovation, and active citizenship in the twenty-first century.
